What a difference a week makes fresh off a confidence boosting come from behind draw against power houses Stirling Braza last week the Men’s SFL team took on another power house in the likes of WAs most successful club Rockingham Cambio Cumbre with a result worth forgetting.
Under pressure from the start Cumbre’s leaders Nestor and Garner leading the youth showed AFC the level and standard in what’s required to compete at the top level.
With newcomers AFC still adjusting to coach Jon Bucolo‘s new defensive set up along with some miscommunication Cumbre were able to take full advantage and pick apart the AFC defence who left
gaps for cumbre to work into and ultimately turn into goals. Cumbre taking a 4-0 lead at the half time break.
AFC did manage to pull one back with the ever running Ricardo DeOliveria getting on the end of a Ronnie through ball and getting his first SFL goal for the club, however a second week comeback wasn’t on the cards as Cumbre closed out the game with a further 3 goals to complete the game and pick up their first win of the season.
A tough two rounds to open up the season and that leaves AFC still looking for there first three points of the season but it’s more lessons learned and back to the drawing board ready for Round 3.
