"It Was Going To Be A Real Test Of Our Character Against A Side With Outstanding Footballers"

Updated: Aug 9, 2018

“Sundays Premier game for Perth AFC vs Brozzy was going to be a real test of our character against a side with outstanding footballers. Losing twice this season to Brozzy in the Cup and League we felt if we followed a certain game plan and retained our shape and discipline we could beat a team that have only lost twice this season! We started well for a change creating the first couple of chances which we wasted. However Brozzy started to get the ball and knock it around and half way thru the half Brozzy opened the scoring through the #11 who was starting to dominate the game.

One nil up Brozzy also hit the crossbar twice from long range shots. I decided to man mark the #11 and drop an extra man in midfield and that curtailed the 20 min barrage from Brozzy and we went into the half 1-0 down. Although Brozzy had a good spell in first half we played well enough to have created decent chances so at Half Time we were upbeat and positive. We decided we were going to play a high pressing game and go three at the back if they kept their holding forward up top and in the second half we really took it to Brozzy who seemed flustered by our change of tactics and On another day we may have won the game.

Sean Claude scored an equalizer with 15-20 to go (we also had a goal disallowed for a dubious offside), and the last twenty minutes was a intense game where both teams had chances to win it. 1-1 on the day and testament to the players who gave their all and proved if we play with that intensity and discipline we can match anyone!”
