Kat Sees Red As AFC Stew On The One That Got Away.

A game that had it all for the AFC WSFL team. Goals, cards, physical altercations, questionable refereeing and a two-goal lead with a few minutes to go. Unfortunately it was a sour ending for the Ladies who start the season 0-2.

With a host of attacking players back in the line-up for AFC, it was no surprise to see the ball hit the back of the net numerous times. Last season MVP candidate Kat Jukic did what she does best and returned with two goals. Caitlyn Lewis opened the scoring with her first goal of the season. Some individual strength from Beck Bennett beating her defender and getting the ball to the back Post for the simplest of tap ins for Gabbi Wheatley. A welcome return for left footer Daisy Spill who got on the end of a well worked set up from Kat scoring her first of the season.

Depending on who you talk to some say passion, some say controversial! However, with the sending off of star player and play maker Kat Jukic the AFC Ladies couldn’t hold on to their 2 goal lead. EWA young gun Courtney Chambers steadied the EWA ship by sealing her hat trick and game sealer in the last second of the game to round out a great comeback and steal the three points off AFC.

A much improved performance from the AFC Girls but still some work to be done. The return of Jaymee Gibbons and crowd favourite Steph Funnekotter still remain on everyone’s radar. The question is, what can this AFC team do when they can finally play their full squad?
